The web is replete with information on PIs and their creators. Below are some links to help you get to know some PIs you may not have had a chance to become familiar with yet, as well as some links pertaining to the genre of hardboiled fiction in general.

 The Thrilling Detective Web Site

Words can't describe this site—you've got to see it to believe it. An immense labor of love for all things PI. Info on almost every PI/detective created, in addition to fiction, links, essays and lists. The grail for PI lovers.

The Unofficial Mickey Spillane Mike Hammer Site

Despite its self-deprecative title, this "unofficial" site sure looks to be the best Hammer site on the web. Info on Spillane himself, book cover scans, excerpts from the books, etc.

 The Raymond Chandler Web Site

A web site providing scholarship and information about America's foremost detective novelist.

Bullets and Beer, The Spenser Homepage

If you're into Robert Parker's PI, Spenser, you'd better get some Vivarin, coffee and a little speed, 'cause you won't be able to leave this site! Exhaustive!

 Sue Grafton's Official Site

Home of Sue Grafton's PI, Kinsey Millhone. Nice.

The next set of links don't pertain to fictional PIs exclusively, but contain info about the genre and related literature. Also listed is a great place to buy PI literature.

 Rara-Avis

The homepage of a mailing list devoted to the discussion of hardboiled (and noir) fiction. Lots of good PI info and theory.

 Private Investigator Entertainment Service

A catalog of new and used private eye fiction. An awesome site for all of your PI fiction needs--great prices, large selection, owned and operated by a super nice guy.

 Bleeker Books

A good-looking site focusing on hardboiled and noir fiction, as well as other types of crime fiction media. Book and film reviews, essays on such topics as the private eye as proletariat avenger, and bibliographies and interviews of current and past greats in the field. Plus, sign up for the The Bleeker Street Irregular, a monthly e-mail newsletter with info on what's happening in the mystery world and a look at current hardboiled fiction on the web.

 Hardboiled Heaven

A web site devoted to all things hardboiled, with links to other sites, essays, book covers, interviews, etc.

 The Violent World of Parker

A web site devoted to Richard Stark's master thief Parker—he's not a PI, but definitely hardboiled.
